Outreach & Education

At Selah Dance Collective, we believe in the power of movement to educate, empower, and inspire. Through our outreach and education programs, which include performances, workshops, and short-term residencies, we provide accessible, inclusive dance experiences for students across Santa Barbara, Goleta, and beyond.

Our sister company, Novus Contemporary Ballet, extends this mission with professional dancers and teaching artists who specialize in engaging K–12 audiences through contemporary ballet and creative movement. Whether through in-school assemblies or hands-on classes, our programs meet students where they are and invite them into the creative process.

School Assembly Performances

Dynamic, age-appropriate shows designed for student audiences

Grades K–12
30–45 minute interactive performances
Themes include storytelling through movement, dance & music, self-expression, dance pioneers
Includes narration and Q&A
Perfect for school-wide events or arts celebration weeks
Sliding scale pricing available for public and Title I schools

In-School Dance Workshops

Dance meets creativity and self-expression

Grades 3–12
45–60 minute sessions led by professional teaching artists
No prior dance experience required
Topics include:
- Introduction to Contemporary Dance and/or Ballet
- Choreography & Composition
- Dance for Athletes
- Empowerment Through Movement (for girls and gender-expansive youth)

Short-Term Residencies

Deeper engagement through creative learning

Grades 4–12
1–4 week customized programs co-developed with classroom teachers
Culminating performance optional
Integrated themes such as:
- Dancing the Elements (science + movement)
- My Body, My Voice (SEL and empowerment)
- Moving History (dance and storytelling)
